Photos and the City

Slow travel & photography

I haven´t been everywhere, but it´s on the list! (Susan Sontag)

When planning my next adventures I always love to use  “real” maps – there is just something magical about marking a map on paper and drawing in routes and places of interest. And as I´ve always dreamed of owning my own big hanging world map I was more than happy to take the offer of Weltkarte, to test one of their beautiful maps.

The hardest part of the process was probably selecting just one from the many beautiful options to choose from. I was really torn between the textile ones and the one printed on wood. And do I want a vintage map or an old looking one… Weltkarten offers many different options!

In the end, I went with the textile one and the round wood, I think it´s the one that would fit best in my apartment.

When the selection is finally done, the rest is easy. Choose the size and the finish, pay and a few days later it will be delivered with DHL.

The printing looks lovely and will also fit some little “flags” marking my upcoming travels – here is a close up from Europe. This is the textile one in “lighter colours”. And looking at the UK reminds me of my next adventure this summer all the time and just makes me happy!

Prints

I´ll probably bring back tons of new pictures from Yorkshire, the Scottish Borders, Aberdeenshire, the Northern Highlands and Loch Less and can´t wait to share many of them. Did you know that I also offer prints?

Printed on fine art paper, signed and in limited editions. Let me know when you’re interested in getting some landscapes or maybe one or more from my collaboration with fashion designer Irina Hofer? Currently also seen on and in WIENER magazine.

For landscapes or more dramatic portraits, I could also imagine printing them on wood, that might be a very interesting way of showcasing them and just something very special.

Disclaimer: Weltkarten.at offered me a free map and free shipping without any strings attached!
