This idyllic square lies a little bit hidden in the first district and to be honest the main reason I go there is another one of my favourite cafés: „Kleines Café“. Probably one of the smallest coffee houses in Vienna and one of the most cosiest! In the summertime one is able to enjoy the calm surroundings of Franziskanerplatz while having some coffee and bread with chieves.
You might recognize the café, some scenes from the movie „Before Sunrise“ were shot there.
Franziskanerplatz is located in one of Vienna’s oldest quarters, not far from St. Stephens. Franziskanerkirche (Franciscan Church) was built in the 17th century in a Renaissance style, incorporating some Gothic elements. In the middle of the square there is a fountain with the Moses statue, calles „Mosesbrunnen“.
