  • Turquoise waters & limoncello – Capri

I just knew I wanted to go somewhere with one of the ferries and let fate decide where to, the first ferry that was going to leave the harbour of Naples would be mine. Little did I know that there were that many different companies and ferries leaving all the time – nevertheless I ended up on a boat to Capri!

And as I love boating I stepped on the next one the minute I reached Capri – or almost at the same moment. Unfortunately it was to windy for the grande tour around the island and to the Grotta Azzurra, but the small tour to the four Faraglioni was beautiful and the blue grotto will be thee next time.

While cruising I spotted some dream houses on top of Capri… and wished to be on one of these little boats…

Or just dive into the ocean – that colour!

Saying hello to the faraglioni and the boat turned around going back to the harbour.

After a short walk around the harbour, a little limoncello granita, I spent the next hours at one of the little beaches – swimming with a view!

Back to Naples and being greeted by Vesuvius bathed in golden evening light – almost too kitschy.

  • Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli

Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli, museum, naples, italyA rainy afternoon was the pefect excuse to spend some hours at the archeological museum – even that wasn´t any light in two of the rooms with all the marbles, still don´t know why, but it made me miss the famous buttocks of Venus Callipyge – there are so many beautiful artifacts, I might be going back there this autumn.

And suddenly one had to wait in line – I was reaching the Gabbinete, the “Secret Room”!

is the name of the Bourbon Monarchy gave the private rooms in which they held their fairly extensive collection of erotic or sexual items, mostly deriving from excavations of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Access was limited to only persons of mature age and known morals.(Wikipedia)

My morals seemed known enough – I was allowed to enter…

  • O Dolci Mio!

While I´m already busy and excited planning this years trip to Southerin Italy I realised there are still a lot of pictures from last year. To ease back into posting let´s start with something sweet. You can´t visit Naples and not try the huge variety of dolci: fruit tarts, sfogliatella, babà (for which I didn´t care that much, sorry about that Napoli), struffoli (didn´t try those), cannoli, granita and much more. A lot of the pasticceria offer miniversions of all the dolci, the best way to try everything without feeling too guilty!

La Sfogliatella Mary – probably one of the most famous and most loved pasticceria. Located at Galeria Umberto.

But just eat your way through the city, I don´t believe there is any place in Naples that won´t serve you delicious food and dolci!
