Happy May 1st! Exactly one month ago I arrived in Oslo and spend some great days in this beautiful city! On my very last evening I met Emilie on the roof of the Norwegian Opera and Ballet House right at the Fjord.
Unfortunately it was quite stormy but we tried to conquer the wind… 
…until we then decided to find some shelter in Karl Johans gate…
On my last day I took a walk along the river Akerselva which flows through Oslo.
Akerselva was the cradle of Norway’s industrialisation in the second half of the 19th century. Back then the river gave power to saw mills, textile factories and mechanical workshops.
Today Akerselva plays a valuable role as a “green lung”; a popular recreational area with green parks and luxuriant nature. Many of the old factory buildings along the river have been refurbished and now house cafés, galleries, offices and schools. (Visitoslo)
This lovely little house is a café and you can enjoy some coffee and cake right next to the waterfall.
Shortly after meeting these ladies I left the river and strolled around Grünerløkka, its cafés and vintage stores.
Right in front of the City Hall (rådhus) are some beautiful old sailboats waiting for people to show them around the Fjord – of course I had to do a Fjord-Boat-Tour. It takes about two hours and if in Oslo you shouldn´t miss this.
Gliding through the water, norwegian folk music playing and wind in your hair! (And don´t forget your sunscreen!)
