It´s the season of the great balls in Vienna – take out your gorgeous robes and tails!
This morning I woke up to Winterwonderland ♥. Finally! Join me on a walk at Stadtpark and enjoy the white blanket – it has already melted and is gone again!
In the Biedermeier period, the glacis before the Karolinenstadttor (Caroline City Gate) was a popular site of entertainment. During the demolition of the city walls and the creation of the Vienna Ringstraße in its place about 150 years ago, the mayor at that time, Andreas Zelinka, promoted the project of creating a public park on the territory: Stadtpark was opened in August 1862 as Viennas first public park.
Vienna´s Ringstraße (The Vienna Ring) is celebrating its 150th birthday this year – it was opened on May 1st 1865 by Emperor Franz Joseph. I´m going to show a lot of its buildings, parks and monuments throughout this year.
From the 1950 to 1970 years fashion shows were a huge part of the cinema culture. In the first years they took place every day before every screening, in the later years only sometimes. Usually five models presented the new collections from viennese fashion houses. A conférencier hosted the shows and commented on the fashion.
On Februrary 7th Swell Time will bring back the fashion show into the Gartenbau Kino: before the screening of “Breakfast at Tiffany´s” the austrian designer Irina Hofer will present her new summer/spring 2015 collection.
And of course there will be a party afterwards!
Tickets are available at Phil, Goldstück Vienna and Gartenbau Kino – check out the event page at Facebook for more information! You don´t wanna miss this!
