Walking around Scrainish, in the Isle of Tiree

Scarinish is a bit like the little hub in Tiree. The Co-op, the post office, a coffee shop, a hotel and the museum are all around the harbour.

    Exploring the Isle of Tiree,

I ate lunch at the Farmhouse Café in Balemartin and walked along the coast and beach. There is a flock of highland cows right next to the café.

    An Turas

The Art installation An Turas in the Isle of Tiree.

When you arrive by ferry in the Isle of Tiree you will see this art installation near the ferry port.

An Turas is in, and of, the landscape and the place … it is that which gives it its meaning. (Visit Tiree)

An Turas is a collaboration between two young Scottish architects and a group of artists – a combination of architecture and art.

The bigger one dates to the 14th century is the former parish church dedicated to Saint Columba. The smaller chapel also was dedicated to St Columba and goes back to the 13th century.
