  • Good bye Grimsay & North Uist

An evening and morning in Grimsay, North Uist

I went for a little walk along Grimsay on my last evening. Looking out towards North Uist from the best little bench. These are always in the best locations!

And just a short walk from my cottage there were the remains of a broch, including a causeway, now underwater.

The following day I had to leave Grimsay and North Uist to catch my ferry from Berneray to Leverburgh in the Isle of Harris. But there was a surprise on the street towards North Uist, suddenly I saw some deer crossing.

Clachlan Sands – another stunning white beach in North Uist going on for ages. Framed by colourful machair it is perfect for long walks between the waves and the wildflowers.

It is a known spot for the elusive corncrakes, but I didn´t hear or see any, but it was also a pretty busy day.

Visiting Berneray and all the beaches, North Uist

Shortly after Dun an Sticir, I crossed the causeway to Berneray to explore the island a bit. Berneray is a small island filled with gorgeous beaches and amazing views.
