Thanks to the Igersvienna I had the opportunity to visit the new exhibition by Olafur Eliasson in the Winterpalais some days ago – to be honest I didn´t know Eliasson before but visiting the Winterpalais in the first district has been on my to-do-list for a long time!

Despite of having no idea on what to expect I was hook as soon as I entered the building. This light installation was simply perfect to leave the city outside behind and getting ready to explore the meeting of modern art and baroque! It even got better on the staircase bathed in yellow light, which elimanted all the other colours and made the expirence even more surreal.
Entering the state rooms one was greeted by the beautiful “New Berlin Sphere”, (2009) which leaded to a room of your own colourful silhouette(s):
Entering even more breathtaking rooms – Prince Eugene did know how to have the most stunning Palais bulit – with two Vincenzo Coronelli Coronelli Globes (1688 / 1693) from the Augustiner Chorherrenstift Vorau. Every large library had to have globes during the Baroque era.
Beautiful chandeliers everywhere but I really did fell in love with the one in the red “room”
