  • Rosenhügelstudios – first impressions

Last week I had the opportunity to visit the former “Filmstadt Wien” at the Rosenhügel Studios. Built from 1919 to 1923 by Vita-Film it was one of the most modern and innovative studio-complexes of that time. Over the course of years many well known movies were produced there until the majority of the site has been sold recently. Only two of the big (studio) halls were named listed buildings and are already on their way to new destinations.

Here are some first impressions of the former studio-complex, it´s mainly the entrance area and barracks I saw on the way to the first hall. Demolition work of the complex has already begun.

  • Mission Possible

Tom Cruise and his crew turned the Vienna Opera House into a huge movie set. Scenes from “Mission Impossible 5” are shot there. To be honest I´ve never seen any one of the “Mission Impossible” movies but when I stepped out of the underground at Karlsplatz yesterday, saw the huge crowds of people looking at the roof of the opera – I had to take a peek, too. A stunt test was in full swing.
