When I woke up today, Vienna was covered with a fluffy white blanket – finally, the first snow of the year! The cold, from which I´ve been hiding and running away for the last two months, has catched up, but I just had to take a walk – it´s the first snow! Bundled up in warm clothes I took a stroll around the first district, it is still snowing and quite cold and I love it! Please stay a little longer, dear Frau Holle (“Mother Holle”)!
Only one more day to go until Christmas and there is still time for some mulled Schilcher wine and buying some presents at the fair art and craft christmas fair at Karlsplatz!
Yesterday evening on my way home I suddenly felt a whiff of parisian flair next to the Opera House and just had to take a closer look. Gone is the bank at the Palais Tedesco and hello to a new chic café! The traditional viennese patisserie Gerstner has partnered up with another “K & K Hoflieferant” Schlumberger (they produce premium sparkling wine) and opened a combination of a shop, bar and café vis-à-vis from the Opera.
I didn´t have enough time to go inside but there is always time for a little peek trough the windows, I definitely have to visit it soon, it looks lovely! And those stairs!
