La Punta della Dogana – the point where Canale Grande meets Giudecca Canal and you have one of the best views in Venice: San Marco on the left, Chiesa di San Giorgio Maggiore in front and Giudecca on the left. Be there at sunset!
This triangular area of Venice consists of several buildings: Santa Maria della Salute, Patriarchal Seminary of Venice, and Dogana da Mar and is located on the tip of an island in the Dorsoduro district. La Punta della Dogana is the art museum inside the Dogana da Mar building, which hosts one half of the Damien Hirst exhibition at the moment – another reason I wanted to come to Venice in November.
When you´re crossing la Ponte dell´Accademia don´t forget to stop for a minute (or longer) and enjoy the view over Canale Grande.
Biennale meets Damien Hirst.
Jamie Lee Byars´ “Golden Tower” and Hirst’s “Mermaid”.
Walking back on the other side of the island and enjoying the view of Giudecca in the sunset…
Probably the most kitschy picture ever!
