  • Ostuni

There is a lot to do and see in the Valle d´Itria – actually I´d love to come back soon and stay longer, this area is just too beautiful and there is still so much more to explore.

Ostuni is one of the more famous cities of this area, know for it´s whitewashed houses – la città bianca. Inhabited since the Stonge age one still can see many remains of the past. Remains of a medievel castle, city walls with the four gates, baroque and renaissance elements. And then there is that view…

  • Martina Franca

Welcome to one of my favourite towns so far, Martina Franca! Founded in the 10th century by refugees from the Taranto area fleeing the Saracens invasion, it lies pittoresque on top of the San Martino hills, the highest ones in this area.

When you enter the town center through one of the huge baroque gates you´ll find yourself in other time period. Beautiful baroque palazzi, narrow alleys and the piazzas, where the older (and younger) gentlemen of the town gather and probably talk for hours (like more or less everywhere else in Italy).  Just wander around, get lost and enjoy all those beautiful details everywhere…

  • Valle d`Itria

I can´t believe that one third of my holidays are already gone and I´ve been here in Italy for one week – time does fly by. Today I left my trullo near Alberobello for going further south – the most south I will get this time. Three days ago I arrived in Alberobello and the Valle d´Itria stole my heart – it´s just too beautiful here!

Endless rows of olive and almond trees in red earth, grapes, figs and pomegranats everywhere – as well as trulli in all shapes, sizes and state of being. Beautiful (white) villages, dreamy beaches and turquoise sea.

This was supposed to be posted on Tuesdays – but then there were those days without internet, the modem in my last airbnb in Matino blew up some days before. Now I´m sitting in Maratea next to the beach and it´s almost half time of my holiday, the end of my roadtrip is near.
