Some days ago Viennas new main railway station, the “Hauptbahnhof” has been officially opened. Situated in the 10th district of Vienna it replaces the former “Südbahnhof”, which closed in December 2009 and was demolished in 2010.
I visited the building site about one month ago and took a ride on the Bahnorama. A 66,72 m high wooden tower offering an amazing view over the city and the busy neighbourhood. But the glass panorama lift taking one on to the visitors platform wasn´t that suitable for my fear of hights. My knees just went wobbly and after two minutes on the platform I had to go down again. But the view really is great!
