  • Kutschkermarkt

While being at University Kutschkermarkt in the 18th district kind of became “my hood” – the department of my studies was situated there and I knew the market from walking up in the morning (ok, it was communication sciences – I rarely had lectures in the morning) und walking down to the Bim on my way home. But back then I didn´t pay much attention in the market and as far as I remember it wasn´t very interesting – we preferred to spend our free time at the one and only “Café Schopenhauer” or get something to eat at the small supermarket.

Last week I passed Kutschkermarket for the first time since graduation and was astonished on how hip the area has become! It´s an organic market now, there is an huge selection of legumes, fruits and other really nice other foodie stuff.

  • My new roomie

    salad, sustainable, organic, foodie

I bought some salad today, which wouldn´t be that exciting, if the salad wasn´t still rooting! Something I missed at the shop, but it was quite a pleasant surprise. My lovely new roommate is not only looking white pretty, it is also supposed to grow again after beeing harvested. Plants don´t really like me, therefore I´m curious what is going to happen – at least it will taste great!

  • boutons de roses

boutons de roses, roses, tea, rosebuds, teatime, cute, pretty boutons de roses, roses, tea, rosebuds, teatime, cute, pretty

I had to stock up my favourite tea (“figs & roses“) and while browsing for some herbal teas I found this little bag of rosebuds at Haas & Haas. Until about a week ago I would have thought it´s potpourri, but I know better now: “boutons de roses” is made from whole, dehydrated rose blossoms and is supposed to have quite some health benefits. And it´s pretty!

The tea smells really strong (it still reminds me of potpourri), but it tastes a little bit like a fruity, soft white tea.

If you´re in Vienna you have to visit Haas & Haas, it is located behind St. Stephens cathedral and has the most amazing selection of teas and lots of other delicious food!
