Thanks to the Igersvienna I had the opportunity to visit the new exhibition by Olafur Eliasson in the Winterpalais some days ago – to be honest I didn´t know Eliasson before but visiting the Winterpalais in the first district has been on my to-do-list for a long time!
Despite of having no idea on what to expect I was hook as soon as I entered the building. This light installation was simply perfect to leave the city outside behind and getting ready to explore the meeting of modern art and baroque! It even got better on the staircase bathed in yellow light, which elimanted all the other colours and made the expirence even more surreal.
Entering the state rooms one was greeted by the beautiful “
Entering even more breathtaking rooms – Prince Eugene did know how to have the most stunning Palais bulit – with two
Beautiful chandeliers everywhere but I really did fell in love with the one in the red “room”
Gold, mirrors, even more gold and mirrors and bright yellow light: “Eye see you” (2006)
I think everyone had great fun with the kaleidoscopes (“Seu planeta compartilhado (Your shared planet)”, 2011) in cyan, blue, pink, yellow. Trying out different angles and seeing the surroundings with new perspectives.
“Your welcome reflected” (2003)
Another very, very huge kaleidoscope (“Kaleidoscope”, 2001) was placed in the Sala Terrana, another beautiful room next to the entrance:
Eliasson gives an opportunity to see things/the rooms from an different angle and in an other way than we are used to – and it´s great fun!
Thanks to Igersvienna, the Belvedere and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary for the invitation and the very special experience!
