Sasso Barisano
I´ve already shown you lots of stairs, cats and a cute dog and here comes part 2 of my pictures from Sasso Barisano.
Sant’ Agostino Sitting on the very edge of the rock Sant´ Augustino was founded in 1592 by monks belonging to the Order of Hermits. Read more about this monastery on the sassiweb.
Finding little gardens <3 View of Sasso Caveoso & modern Matera -
Stairs, stairs, stairs….and cats
My little cave was almost in the middle between Sasso Caveoso and Sasso Barisano. So on my second day in Matera I turned left and started to explore Sasso Barisano. It´s the later, more “modern” of the two Sassi. Even that the outsides, the facades seem to be more built, inside it´s still hollowed out of the rock. Still this neighbourhood is more restored than Sasso Caveoso and one find quite a number of restaurants, cafés, hotels and little museums here.
….and again lots of sleeping cats…I felt in love with the little “Juliet balcony” on the right. Spot the cat! View of the Duomo on the top (surrounded by scaffolding) and Sasso Caveoso. View from the Top (and very edge) of Sasso Barisano)
