  • Be my valentine.. or not!

Tomorrow is Valentine’s day and you might be in need of some ideas for a present or just some tips how to spend the day or maybe ignore it. Do whatever you´ll like to do!

Walking by this flower shop on behind St. Stephens cathedral makes me always happy, every time they have these lovely arrangements in front of their store. It brightens up every grey and moody day in Vienna.

There are two options around the corner – first go to Haas & Haas and get some tea. “Highland Toffee” is an old favourite of mine and then turn around two or three corners until you´ve reached Altmann & Kühne. They not only have the cutest packages but also the best tiny pralines!

Walk through all the narrow little streets around Graben and Kärntnerstrasse until you reach the Albertina. Kissing the Muses, dancing around the Hall of the Muses is always a good idea and don´t forget to say hi to Monet!

It´s about time for some coffee! And you probably know that Vienna has an abundance of great Kaffeehäuser! From old to modern to hip and cosy – there is one (or more) for everyone! Some of my favourites are Alt Wien, Phil, Josephine, Kleines Café and many more!

Are we in the mood for another museum? The Art history Museum at Maria Theresien Platz is another one you don´t wanna miss! “The Stairway to Klimt” is opening today and will bring you eye to eye with Klimt’s work in the main staircase.

  • Winter Wonderland

Vienna had a very warm winter so far but there was at least one morning with a tiny bit of snow. And we tried to make the most of it! Lena dreamt of a photoshoot in the snow with her trusty companion Catchi.

An early morning in Sulz, near Vienna.

  • Die Kaiserliche Schatzkammer

And it was time to go back to Vienna, luckily I was greeted by an invitation to visit the Treasury (Die Kaiserliche Schatzkammer) and have a drink at the Kunsthistorische Museum with the Igersaustria afterwards.

The Secular Treasury offers a unique panorama covering over a millennium of European history. This is the home of the most important collection of medieval royal objects: the insignia and jewels of the Holy Roman Empire, including the Imperial Crown and the Holy Lance. Further highlights include the Crown of Emperor Rudolf II. (which later on became Crown of the Austrian Empire), as well as the vestments and other precious items of the Order of the Golden Fleece. The horn of a unicorn, which actually is a giant narwhal tooth and the crip of the King of Rome. The city Paris gifted it to Napoleon and his second wife Marie Louise in 1811. About 280kg of silver were used on this lavish piece.
