Photos and the City

Slow travel & photography

Do you remember those beautiful girls and boys joining me at Burggarten in August? You saw the Palmenhaus (Palm House) in the background and today we´ll take a closer look.

This stunning greenhouse was built during the Art Nouveau period in 1901 as part of the Hofburg Royal Palace, designed by Friedrich Ohmann. Today the left wing is used as the butterly house, the central part is a popular café and the right wing is normaly closed to the public and only used for special events and of course for housing plants.

During the Open House Vien weekend it was possible to visit this part and as I walked by anyway I took the opportunity to visit this “true architectural gem”. And felt in love with all this beautiful little details.
