After some days in Rome, Florence and Milan it was time to go south! The hours on the train flew by and I arrived in perfect time for  the blue hour in Bari and just had to walk to the lungomare. Finally at the sea!

For the next hours I strolled around the beautiful old town. It was a Sunday evening and the streets were filled with people eating, talking and wandering around like me.

Bari is a port town and the capital of Apulia (ital: Puglia) and is also known as a “southern Bologna” – an university town.

The church was built to shelter San Nicolas remains after they were stolen from Myra (Turkey) in 1087. Legend tells St. Nicolas himself choose Bari as his burial grounds.
